       Respiratory Care Services

The Respiratory Care Department at Unity Health Center, also known as the Respiratory Therapy Department, provides respiratory care and services to hospitalized patients, as well as, those patients that come to the Emergency Department.


The Respiratory Care Department provides a wide variety of functions within Unity Health Center. They are responsible for providing respiratory assessment and support and responding to all resuscitative emergencies at Unity Health Center. Additionally, they administer and monitor oxygen, perform respiratory and ventilator management, administer bronchodilator medication via aerosol or metered dose inhalers, administer postural drainage and chest percussion, IPPB (intermittent positive pressure breathing), incentive spirometry, CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) and BIPAP ( bi-level positive airway pressure), sputum collection, pulmonary function testing, oxygen tent set-up and monitoring, administering ribavirin for infants with RSV (respiratory synctial virus), coordination of EEGs (electroencephalogram) and polysomnography (sleep studies).
