Patient's Bill of Rights
As a patient, you have certain rights and responsibilities under Oklahoma law. Here is an overview of your rights:
• Right to considerate and respectful care, provided in a safe environment free from all forms of abuse or harassment.
• Right to become informed of his or her rights as a patient in advance of, or when discontinuing, the provision of care.
• Right to receive access to treatment or accommodations that are available or medically indicated, regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, religion, source of payment, age or handicap.
• Right to receive information from the physician to be well informed and involved in the care decisions about the illness, course of treatments, and outcomes of care including unanticipated outcomes and prospects for recovery in understandable terms.
• Right to know the names and roles of people involved in their treatment.
• Right to participate in the development and implementation of his/her care plan and to actively participate in decisions regarding his/her medical care.
• Right to privacy concerning his/her medical care program.
• Right to expect confidential treatment of all communication and records pertaining to his/her care unless permission has been give to release information or reporting is required or permitted by law.
• Right to request the assistance of a language interpreter, or request a TDD (Telephone Device for the Deaf) if hearing impaired.
• Right to review their medical records and to have the information explained, except where restricted by law.
• Right to expect that the hospital will give necessary health services to the best of its ability.
