Formerly known as Shawnee Regional Hospital and Mission Hill Memorial Hospital, Unity Health Center is comprised of two campuses. Renamed Unity Health Center in January 2002, when the two hospitals unified, the name reflects the hospitals' mission to join together two entities while bringing together all of the components needed to achieve positive health outcomes - highly trained doctors and health professionals, comprehensive hospitals and services, and quality and compassion.

A great deal of consideration and research occurred before selecting a name that would best reflect the unification as well as the mission and vision of the organization. Unity Health Center reflects the joining of the two hospitals and the collaborative initiative that exists between doctors, health professionals, patients and families. In essence, we have united our knowledge, expertise, abilities and desire to provide the highest level of health care for those whom we serve.
